More often than not when most people give thought to getting employed in the wagering industry they typically think of the dealers and casino employees. Salaries vary by establishment and area. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) figures show that fulltime gaming managers were paid a median annual amount of $46,820 in 1999. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $26,630, and the highest ten percent earned just over $96,610.

Gaming supervisors take charge of gaming operations and employees in an assigned area. Circulating among the tables, they see that all stations and games are taken care of for each shift. It also is normal for supervisors to interpret the casino’s operating standards for members. Supervisors could also plan and arrange activities for guests staying in their casino hotels.

Gaming supervisors must have clear leadership qualities and excellent communication skills. They need these talents both to supervise staff excellently and to greet members in order to encourage return visits. Nearly all casino supervisory staff have an associate or bachelor’s degree. Regardless of their educational background, however, most supervisors gain experience in other casino occupations before moving into supervisory areas because an understanding of games and casino operations is essential for these workers.
